ACTIVE CITIZENS AND SOCIAL INCORPORATION - PROGRAM SUMMARY

Our proposal has as the strategic target of the creation of the necessary interest from Persons with Disabilities and Patients for MORE and BETTER QUALITY WORK POSITIONS and EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES for all, especially for children who live isolated in the countryside. This can be achieved with the correct implementation of the OPEN METHOD OF COORDINATION, practiced by the EU since 2006. This proposal is targeting at three social groups: Persons with Disabilities, Children and Patients. Emphasis will be given to persons living in the countryside and includes the following:

1. Networking, by subject, of local NGOs in every district.

2. The creation of a central co-ordination committee.

3. Briefing of the persons involved about the RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, PATIENTS AND CHILDREN.

4. To present the programs organized by the Welfare Services and the European program “PROGRESS”

5. To present the Social Welfare programs which are organized by NGOs, for the co-operation with other NGOs and mutual fulfillment of any weaknesses.

6. To co-operate with the government, in evolving the OPEN CO-ORDINATION METHOD and social protection. Its incorporation, such as the advancement of the principles of NON DISCRIMINATION and to advertise this policy (mainstreaming) in all the policies of the EU.

7. To present the development and the results of this program through our Web Page: www.esfc.org.cy and through our bulletin “THE FORUM”.

8. The edition of briefing material.

9. To present the program through all mass media.

10. To send these results to INTERNATIONAL WEB PAGES through our partners in the EU

All the above will be materialized through an open public dialog, through the Mass Media (Television, Radio and the Press) and through organized events such as:

  • Open Public Meetings and Discussions with various co-operating communities.
  • Workshops of social members on the subjects we mentioned earlier (Social Discrimination), equal opportunities for children, Patients and Persons with Disabilities.
  • Musical events for young people with less opportunities.
  • The presentation of work positions suitable for our special groups.
  • Conferences in various towns with European Speakers.

This program will start working all over Cyprus , utilizing and briefing of all organized groups who would show the necessary interest. We are going to utilize skilled paid personnel and a large number of VOLUNTEERS, to support all those needing support and for their active involvement in this program .
