ÁNNOUNCEMENT
The first excursion for FISHING in sweet waters, took place on may 10 2009. This function was within the framework of the “Social Companion” program and support for the families of persons with disabilities of ESFC and PANDEKTIS. It was supported by the Social Welfare Services . Our group of 15 persons with disabilities and their families went to the Alassa Dam , accompanied by 15 instructors from the association of fishermen of sweet waters. This function was under the auspices or the Cyprus Fishery Department.
The persons with disabilities were thrilled at their first experience with fishing (no matter what the fishing results were) .
Taking advantage of the good weather and the water that was accumulated this year in the dam, they enjoyed a great Sunday morning. The program included a get-together of the members of the two associations, a very instructive speech on the particularities of fishing in dams and fishing for a few hours. Fishing was followed by a meal at a nearby restaurant.
With this event it was made clear that the association between people, when it is accepted, brings great joy to everybody involved. The program “FISHING FOR EVERYBODY” will continue with a second group which will go to the Prodromos dam. We hope that they also will have great success with their fishing.
