"PANDEKTIS" - Typical Pan Cyprian Multi Subject Network of Local Authorities & Non Government Organizations
This pioneering initiative of Typical* Netting of all kinds of subjects and organizations (Local Authorities, Trade Unions Schools, NGOs, etc), in Cyprus, from the European Social Forum Cyprus (ESFC), was initiated after the demand by the EU itself for citizens Activation, Participation in Democracy and especially in defending Human Rights, either on a personal level, or on a level of representation by the relevant NGO.
This became necessary after the direct involvement of the ESFC in European Programs demanding the involvement of as large as possible a number of citizens, so that direct and indirect effect on citizens can be increased both in quantity and quality.
Today, under "PANDEKTIS", we have a multi Thematic Network in operation, which covers four basic social sectors:
- Social Policy, where we cover organizations and curriers of every nature in social activity i.e. Organizations of Persons with Disabilities, Patients, Communities Councils, etc.
- Civilization and Education, in which Universities, Schools, Cultural Organization, Foundations & Training and Education Centers etc are participating.
- Youth, where Organizations and NGOs for the youth are participating.
- Environment & Agricultural Development where environmental, sports and community organizations are participating.
The Typical participation of these organizations in "PANDEKTIS" is giving to us, as ESFC, the right to automatically participate and with good results in European challenges, for any kind of a program.
With this idea of Netting on a Pan Cyprian level and then, on a second stage, into a Euro Mediterranean level, we can take advantage of the appropriate European programs.
"PANDEKTIS" is cooperating with NGOs which are in an informal conduct with us and we have constant communication.
* "Typical Netting" means the cooperation of a number of organizations (National or Multinational), based on a certain managing system and after a written acceptance of cooperation by the Managing Committees, or the presidents of the organizations participating in the network.
