SPORTS

The ESFC is active in the department of sports in two ways.
- -Gymnastics and Physiotherapy for everybody, with emphasis to the youth.
- -Athletic exercise in order to participate in local, Pan Cyprian and European games and the Olympics.
We divide our actions in two categories:
- Athletics and sports for everybody and
- Sports for persons with special needs.
The implementation of this policy will be possible due to the interest shown by Non Government Organizations (NGO) who are members of the ESFC “NETWORK”. These NGO are trying to implement this police through Cypriot or European programs.
Within the “PANDEKTIS” National Network, which deals with persons with special needs, there are three sports clubs, for persons with special needs. These clubs promote sports for young people with disabilities. This is always achieved in close cooperation with the Cyprus Sports Organization.
From 1-11-04 up to 31-12-05 we have completed a program, with the subject: “Sports, Music and Education on our course for Europe. That was within the “YOUTH” European Program. During this program, two big groups of young people participated:
- Foreign workers and
- Young people with disabilities.
These young people had the opportunity to get involved in three programs:
- THAI BOXING
- BODY BUILDING and
- Adapted Gymnastics, with the help of a specialist in kinesiology, in two athletic centers.
During these programs more than 50 disabled persons were involved plus an equal number of foreign workers.
For the year 2006 we are going to:
- Organize and promote three Sports Clubs, for person with special needs, which will be a part of our “PANDEKTIS” National Network.
- Promote a new program dedicated to young people with disabilities, so that they can exercise, but also can have physiotherapy and adapted gymnastics.
- Promote a program on THAI BOXING and gymnastics, in the Limassol district, for people who do not live in town.
- Establish a DAY & SPORTS center for persons with special needs in Limassol.
