THE ROLE OF THE PROGRAM “YOUTH IN ACTION”, IN SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
The presence of the EU in Cyprus was felt in many ways and especially by the youth, through the program “YOUTH IN ACTION” This program has been on for the last ten years in Cyprus . It gives the opportunity to hundreds of young people to travel to the EU and to get in conduct with other people and cultures .
The branch for the YOUTH and the persons with disabilities of ESFC Cyprus , exploited possibly the presence of the EU in Cyprus . They pioneered in opening new paths for the Cyprus Social Policy on the subject of handicapped youth which is functioning many programs to-day, for persons with special needs and help more than 40 persons in Limassol as follows:
- Program of Applied Gymnastics for the Youth and social Incorporation under the program: YOUTH IN ACTION: ACTION 1.2 Youth Initiatives .
- Program : “ Physiotherapy at home for Youth with Severe Disabilities : which started with the «YOUTH IN ACTION» program in 2005 and it was successfully continued by the Welfare Services in 2006, 2007, 2008
- The program VOLUNTEERISM & SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION “ CLOWNS OF JOY ” where through the meeting of Civilizations for the Youth program, we are introducing the art of CLOWNING in Cyprus, with the volunteer work of young people from 13 to 26 years old. The basic target of thiw program is to offer JOY and SMILES to children who are in HOSPITALS and other FOUNDATIONS .
We congratulate the Office for the program «YOUTH IN ACTION» in Cyprus for the very co-operation with the Non Government Organizations and we hereby thank the EU for these new opportunities which are given to us.
